FAIR SHARE Monitor is awarded the PHINEO Impact Seal
Certified impact: The FAIR SHARE Monitor is officially one of PHINEO’s certified impact projects.
We are thrilled to announce that the FAIR SHARE Monitor has been awarded the PHINEO Impact Seal, one of the most respected recognitions for social impact work in Germany.
What is the PHINEO Impact Seal?
PHINEO is an independent, non-profit analysis and advisory organisation that evaluates the effectiveness of social impact projects across Germany. Their Impact Seal (“Wirkt-Siegel”) is awarded to initiatives that demonstrate:
- proven and measurable impact,
- a robust and transparent methodology,
- effective structures and responsible use of resources,
- a clear contribution to strengthening democracy and social cohesion.
Receiving the Impact Seal means that a project has undergone a detailed, multi-step review process, including independent expert assessment. It is considered one of the most credible quality marks for social change initiatives in the German civil society landscape.
For FAIR SHARE, this award is a powerful recognition of the importance and influence of the FAIR SHARE Monitor.
What PHINEO Recognised in the FAIR SHARE Monitor
Since 2019, the FAIR SHARE Monitor has collected and published annual data on the representation of women in leadership across civil society organisations. Each year, we work with over 220 organisations in Germany and 100 internationally to highlight:
- persistent gender gaps in decision-making roles,
- year-to-year developments in representation,
- and examples of organisations leading the way with feminist leadership practices.
This data closes a critical knowledge gap: before the FAIR SHARE Monitor, almost no sector-wide information existed on gender representation in non-profit leadership.
By making power structures visible, the Monitor enables organisations, funders, practitioners and advocates to address inequality with evidence, not assumptions.
PHINEO recognised the Monitor’s:
- sector-wide impact,
- role in establishing transparency,
- collaborative approach with organisations,
- ability to shift norms around representation, and
- contribution to a more equitable and democratic civil society.
The Democratic Impact of the FAIR SHARE Monitor
Civil society plays a central role in defending democratic values. Yet it can only do so credibly when its own structures reflect the societies it serves.
The FAIR SHARE Monitor strengthens democracy by:
- exposing structural gender discrimination,
- encouraging organisations to take responsibility for their internal power structures,
- supporting women in all their diversity who are underrepresented in leadership,
- and enabling public accountability through transparent, comparable data.
In a global context where democratic rights are increasingly challenged, feminist leadership and equitable representation are not “add-ons” – they are essential conditions for a resilient, inclusive and just democracy.
This award affirms that gender equality and feminist leadership are deeply connected to democratic strength.
