Job description

This is a country-specific position located in Germany. Applicants from outside Germany are welcome to apply, but the programme and FAIR SHARE are unable to cover visa and travel costs.

Please note: This announcement is aimed solely at individuals between the ages of 16 and 26 who have completed their compulsory full-time education. The placement for a Freiwilliges Soziales Jahr im politischen Leben (FSJ-P) [Voluntary Social Year in Political Life] is set up in cooperation with Internationale Jugendgemeinschaftsdienste e. V. (ijgd).

FAIR SHARE of Women Leaders aims to accelerate intersectional gender equity in the social impact sector. We track the number of women in the sector’s leadership on an annual basis, call on organisations to commit to a FAIR SHARE of women leaders by 2030 at the latest, and advocate for Feminist Leadership as a paradigm to transform organisational culture and build a fair, just and equitable sector. Are you passionate about gender equity, a diverse civil society sector, and feminist issues? Do you want to be part of an international team? Would you like to gain insights into feminist approaches in organisational culture and structure? 

Then join us for your Voluntary Social Year in Political Life (FSJ)! 

Tasks and priorities will be defined together at the start of your volunteership, based on your interests and our current projects. This could include:

  • Support with communication, social media, public relations and fundraising
  • Preparation and participation in events, presentations and workshops
  • Researching and compiling material on topics such as data feminism or funding structures for feminist work
  • Collaboration in project development
  • Support with internal organisational processes
  • Are interested in gender equity, intersectional feminism, and the work of a civil society organisation

  • Are proficient in both English and German, with English being the primary language of communication.

  • Participate in all team meetings, strategic retreats, and collaborative training sessions.

Terms and Conditions: 

  • Timeframe: 01/09/2024 to 31/08/2025
  • Flexible, 35 hours per week (negotiable), remote working possible, accessible office space in Berlin available
  • Compensation in accordance with the provider’s guidelines (for 2024/25 consisting of €390 pocket money, €210 meal allowance, and €278 accommodation allowance).
  • 30 days holidays for the year.

The ijgd is our hosting organisation for the FSJ-Politik (Freiwilliges Soziales Jahr im politischen Leben/Voluntary Social Year in Political Life).
